George Athanasopoulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University, Australia. He lives in Melbourne, is married to Evangelia and has two children, Theodoros and Hristina.
He received a PhD in Econometrics from Monash University in 2007. He has received several awards and distinctions such as: Australian Research Council, Post-Doctoral Fellowship for the period 2009-2012; admitted to the Monash Research Accelerator Program for the period 2011-2012; Dean's Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher, 2009; Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal for the most outstanding thesis in the Faculty of Business and Economics, 2008; Dean's Commendation for Excellence in Publication, 2007.
His research interests include multivariate time series analysis, forecasting, non-linear time series, wealth and tourism economics. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Travel Research. He has published in journals such as the International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business and Economics Statistics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Computational Statistics and Data Analysis, Econometric Reviews, Applied Economics,Journal of Time Series Analysis, Tourism Management.
